The Tano South Municipal Assembly held its special meeting to elect a Presiding Member for the Assembly whereby fifty seven (57) assembly members present compromised through the ballot box to vote YES.
In a speech before the elections, the Tano South Municipal Coordinating Director and acting Municipal Chief Executive Mr. Augustine Peprah said, the reason for the august meeting was to elect a Presiding member which was mandatory based on article 244 (1,2 and 3) of the constitution of the Republic of Ghana.

Mr. Peprah said, it is imperative to elect a Presiding member of the assembly now so that he or she can convey an assembly meeting to confirm the President’s nominee for the position of Municipal Chief Executive and ensure the smooth administration of the Municipality is in order to achieve the needed development.
The Regional Electoral Commission, Mr. Emmanuel Kyei. who was in charge of the election opened nominations for twenty (20) minutes to enable assembly members who wanted to take up the position of the Presiding member of the Tano South Municipal Assembly to file their nomination and saw only, Hon Isaac Kusi Amponsah picking the forms to contest the election.
The elections saw the contestant getting the required two-third (2/3) majority votes, which Hon polled Fifty Seven (57) votes which indicated that he has gained the two- third (2/3) majority of votes.
Hon. Isaac Kusi Amponsah expressed his sincere appreciation and gratitude to all Hon. Members as well as various stakeholders who collectively and individually have rendered their selfless support in the development of Tano South Municipal.

He said, since the Assembly’s mission calls for us to get together to discuss and deliberate issues of development in our Municipality, he will make a strong appeal to all Hon. Members to actively participate in the meeting’s discussion and deliberation for the growth of Tano South Municipality.
