The Seven Zonal Councils in the Tano South Municipality of the Ahafo Region have been duly sworn into office at different ceremonies held at Brosankro, Dwomo, Techimantia, Subriso, Ankaase, Derma and Bechem
The programme was attended by the MCE for Tano South Hon. Emmanuel Kwame Frimpong, the Presiding Member Hon. Isaac Kusi Amponsah, Municipal Budget Analyst Mr. Felix Adjei Ofori, Mr. Isaac Nimako Internal Audit Unit and other Heads of Department.

The Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Augustine Peprah, in his welcome address across all seven zonal councils, thank them for their prompt responds to the programme and outlined the members’ roles, which includes enumerating and keeping data on all properties in the zone, as well as helping any person authorized by the Assembly to collect Assembly revenues. He emphasized that effective data collection and revenue mobilization are crucial for the Assembly’s development initiatives. By working together, the zonal council can significantly contribute to the municipality’s growth and prosperity.

In a short but impressive speech, the Member of Parliament Hon. Charles Aseidu thanked the members for honoring the invitation and expressed gratitude to the community members for the mandate entrusted in him and H.E. John Dramani Mahama, assuring them that it would be honored through tangible development initiatives that will turn their expectations into reality.
He said, partisanship tendencies should end when election results are declared and after that whatever must be done, must be done together for the betterment of all the people, the town and the country as a whole not a group of people.

He expressed optimism and wished them well in the discharge of their duties.
The Tano South Municipal chief executive, Hon. Emmanuel Kwame Frimpong speaking to the gathering congratulated all members of the newly constituted committee and urge all members to come together to achieve good governance and expedite development for their respective towns. He continued by telling them to take their assigned duties very serious and reminded them the task ahead of them and hence should give their all to bring development to their communities.
Hon. Frimpong mentioned that they are agents of developments in their community and entreated them to take upon the task of developing their community in their small ways and not resorting to government for the things their power allows them to do. He said, they were to enumerate and keep data on all properties as well as helping any person authorized by the assembly to collect revenues among other roles by the Assembly.

Hon. Frimpong advice the leadership not to mixed their work with politics, it hinders development and advised the members to put away their party colours and focus on improving the livelihood of the people in the community.
The Municipal Budget Analyst, Mr. Felix Adjei Ofori also sensitized all zonal council members of the importance of the Budgeting. He added that, the zonal council cannot expend any revenue ceded to them without budget and budget also goes with planning. Therefore the all zonal councils are suppose to draw their annual action plan which will then help them in preparing budget. He adviced them to take charge of their ceded revenue items so as to aid the zonal in their development.
Mr. Jame Kwesi Oware, the Municipal Environmental Health Officer also on the other hand sensitized all zonal council members of the need for proper personal and environmental hygiene. He aligned of the prosecutable offences in relation to sanitation and also adviced them to educate their electorates on proper sanitation.
The Municipal Internal Auditor also admonished the members of the need to keep proper expenditure records, collecting receipts, invoices, etc to retire all payment that would be made in the name of the zonal council. He outlined to them the proper process to go through to withdrawing from the zonal council’s account. He also iterated to them to spend according to their budget allocation.
The Zonal Council coordinator, Mr. Samuel Dumenya (AD I) also highlighted the key roles and responsibilities of the zonal council to the members. Assuring them of the Assembly’s support and the kind of authority the zonal council possess in dispatching its duties.
