The Ghana Productive Safety Net project (GPSNP) is a world Bank/DFID/Government of Ghana supported project. The project is being implemented by the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development (MLGRD) and the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MoGCSP)
The aim of the project is to improve and expand Government’s support to the poor and extreme poor through the project intervention. And the production inclusion activities is to improve the productivity of the poor by offering them support towards establishing sustainable Income Generation Activities (IGA). The program targeted LEAP beneficiaries and the LIPW beneficiaries.
Project Development Objective are as follows:
- Strengthen safety net systems in Ghana.
- Improve the productivity of the poor.
- Build on flagship programs of Government to enhance their effectiveness –e.g. LEAP, LIPW etc.
- Provide dedicated and coordinated support to poor households to access agricultural support, and strengthen their financial literacy and savings.
- Increase social protection services to citizens.
Beneficiaries within the Municipality were advice to guarantee their involvement in its implementation to ensure the sustainability of the program. Over all the sensitization was successful with a high turnout at various communities. Beneficiaries also expressed their excitement and pledge maximum support to the program.
